London: Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel
Bibury: The Swan Hotel
In London, we will stay at the 4-star Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel, located near Green Park and Baker Street. From our luxurious base and under the tutelage of expert guides, we will visit the main highlights of the city, including St. Paul's Cathedral, the Globe Theatre, Westminster Abbey, the Churchill War Museum, the National Gallery and the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London.
We will attend a performance of the renowned play by Agatha Christie, The Mousetrap, as well as a New York Philharmonic concert (conducted by Alan Gilbert) at the Barbican. We will also try to sneak in either a lunchtime concert or evensong at St. Martin's in the Field.
There is some free time scheduled so you can shed your pounds at Harrods or on Baker Street. And after you're free of those pounds, you can try a pint and bacon buttie at the local pub. You might want to ride The Eye, that famous ferris wheel of London, or perhaps take a look at The British Museum, where you could wander for weeks.
On the fifth day, we'll be transported to Oxford for a tour of this collegiate city center. Then we'll be off to Bibury, in the Cotswolds, where we'll stay for two nights in The Swan Hotel. The time here will be a relaxing contrast to the city bustle that we encountered in London. On our final day, we'll tour some of the small towns in the area and have a garden tour at the magnificent Vestey Manor.
Our final evening will be spent enjoying a gala farewell dinner. And the next day, on the way back to Heathrow, we'll stop for a peek at Stonehenge.
